An active, curious and gregarious lad, Maurice Paddin was born and raised in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, outside London. Growing up, Maurice fancied science fiction and was a keen footballer. He attended both pre-university school and college in London.
Despite an interest in becoming an actual rail engineer, Maurice actually began his professional career as a stenographer in London, which required him to sit all day. Over time, he started to exhibit classic symptoms of MAXIMUM GLUTEUS MAXIMUS EXHAUSTION. As a result he began to take a pillow to work to sit on. But that proved to be ineffective.
Maurice later came to the United States as part of an international professional exchange program. He settled in Columbus, Ohio, and almost immediately became the official court stenographer for the Great Tire Litigation Case of '83, which involved the ACME Tire & Rubber Company. It was during that time that Maurice became friends with Les Tenderbotham, lead counsel for ACME, who also suffered from Maximum Gluteus Maximus Exhaustion. One night, after being "goosed" by a woopie cushion at a cocktail party, Maurice had an epiphany of sorts, and, along with Mr. Tenderbotham, decided to make the act of sitting their new life's calling. Thus, Assology, as it would become known in 1996, was established as a body of knowledge. Part anatomy, part ergonomics, Assology is rooted in a thorough understanding of the inner workings of the buttocks, with the exception of any applied science.
Today, Dr. "Mo," as he would be come known, along with Mr. Tenderbotham and "a couple of bright, young fellows who used to work at NASA," have become "ass ambassadors" for those who are affected by Maximum Gluteus Maximus Exhaustion. Dr. Paddin is a certified Assologist in the state of Illinois, and serves as a research consultant and culinary advisor.
